Stretch for performance: Not sure if you fit into this category?

Think again. Or at least give it a try.
For example, say you have a goal to become better in flexibility and more mobile overall. Why do you have this goal? Do you fail to reach for something without straining a muscle? Do you often wish you had better posture and alignment? Or is there a definitive goal of getting stronger whether that means holding a plank or lifting more weight?
As we know, stretching is used to improve flexibility through 1. the musculoskeletal system and 2. the nervous system. Why are these two systems important? Together they can lead to adaptations in the body including those of the cardiovascular system. Not only is arterial stiffness improved, but also blood pressure (See article here).
In conclusion, stretching for a period of time can lead to more benefits than we can count on two hands.
